The Author

Tom Stanton is the author of several acclaimed books and the 2008 winner of the Michigan Author of the Year Award.

 

His books include Ty and The Babe, his latest and a finalist for a Publishers Weekly Quill Award; Hank Aaron and the Home Run That Changed America, a Reader’s Digest pick of the month; The Road to Cooperstown, a poignant true story about a father-and-son road trip; and the Tiger Stadium memoir The Final Season, which was named best baseball book of the year as winner of both the Casey and Dave Moore awards.

 

A founder of The Voice Newspapers, Stanton teaches journalism at the University of Detroit Mercy and is a former Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan and a current board member of the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

 

Stanton also edited The Detroit Tigers Reader, and has written guest columns for many newspapers, including The New York Times. A graduate of Michigan State and Oakland universities, he lives in New Baltimore, Michigan, with his wife, Beth. They have three adult sons.
